As you know from my last post, Channeling Jane Fonda, I decided to stop weight lifting because of back problems (spasms to be specific). Turns out that my instincts were right. I met with a physical therapist (per doctor’s orders) and he decided that the cause of the spasms is most likely due to my desk job at school. Admittedly, I didn’t pay much attention to how I was sitting and my poor posture caused my back muscles to weaken and my chest to tighten. Since my back was weak, any kind of weight-baring exercise I did just set it off because it was too much. So, he recommended 4-6 weeks of twice-a-week appointments plus at-home exercises and stretches. I actually like going because he really gets in there and works out all the “crunchies” and knots that have built up over time. The exercises are body-weight or band-based and are pretty easy but he wants to keep it that way to strengthen everything back up again. So, in addition to my at-home PT exercises I’m continuing with spin and Body Works classes. Body Works does use light weights but I just put them down for anything that has to do with my back. Lesson learned: sit with proper posture!!

About two weeks ago I posted a picture of this phenomenal salmon dish I made on Instagram (The Fit Diva) and I want to share it with you guys. I did not come up with the recipe, I just followed it. I found it on Pinterest (of course) and I loved everything about it. It was so quick and easy to make. I love all things citrus (especially lemon) with seafood/fish so this dish was perfect for me. I could seriously eat this at least once a week. My picture on Instagram is nothing compared to one from the original blog it came from so I’ll let the author’s speak for itself!
